Griddy is included with every GridCast plan. Add it to your Discord, pick the two channels it posts in, and the rest of this is already switched on or one toggle away.

Race night

  • An entry card for each round — drivers tap it to say they are in
  • Reminder DMs before the race, and check-in on the night
  • A recap DM afterwards telling each driver how their race went
  • A driver who has to miss a round can claim a provisional and still score

Setting it up takes one screen. Add Griddy and it introduces itself — whoever added it becomes the admin, and its iRacing lookups run on their GridCast connection, so it can see your private league. Every setting lives on your league’s Discord Bot tab on the website rather than in chat, and a server can be bound to your channel or straight to a league. Nothing is posted anywhere until you have chosen the channels to post in.

About the platform

What GridCast is

GridCast Telemetry Systems — GridCast for short — is a broadcast and league-management platform for sim racing, operated by VibeWright Labs LLC at gridcast.gg. Racing leagues, broadcast crews and solo streamers use GridCast to run their seasons and to put television-grade graphics on their live streams: a drag-and-drop overlay editor whose widgets render live iRacing timing and telemetry into OBS, a league suite covering schedules, entries, results, penalties and championship standings, desktop applications for race day, and Griddy, our chat bot for Twitch, YouTube and Discord.

Connecting a YouTube channel

Broadcasters who stream to YouTube can connect their YouTube channel to GridCast so the platform runs the show for them instead of leaving them to set every race up by hand in YouTube Studio. With your permission, and only for the one YouTube channel you choose, GridCast:

  • Creates and schedules a live broadcast for each race on your GridCast season calendar, taking the title, description and start time from the schedule you already built here.
  • Sets the thumbnail on those broadcasts, and updates or deletes them when you change or cancel the race.
  • Reads the status of those broadcasts and their stream ingest, so the control room can see that YouTube is receiving your feed, and ends the stream when the show is over.
  • Rewrites the video description after the race so the finished stream carries the results, chapter timestamps and your sponsors.
  • Reads whether your channel is currently live, which is what puts a channel on the air on GridCast TV.
  • Reads your playlists and the videos in them, when you ask GridCast TV to import a playlist as programming for your station.

That is the whole of it. GridCast does not post to your channel outside the broadcasts you schedule through it, does not modify videos it did not create, does not upload video, and never reads any YouTube account other than the one you connected. Connecting YouTube is optional — every other part of the platform works without it — and you can disconnect at any time from your channel settings, or revoke access directly on Google’s third-party access page. GridCast’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements, and to the YouTube Terms of Service.
