Broadcaster 0.5.18: Replay Mode
Replay Mode: RESUME RACE returns to where you left the race instead of the end of the replay file.
Read More ↓Show Less ↑

Broadcasting from a saved replay? Switch on Replay Mode in the GridCast menu (the mark in the top-left of the Broadcaster).

The LIVE button becomes RESUME RACE. Instead of jumping to the end of the file, it takes you back to the exact moment you left the race for an event replay and plays on from there. The vertical ticker steps off air during the event replay and comes back with the race.

Off by default. Live sessions work exactly as before. Update from the Launcher.

Griddy update: race night, rulings and results in your Discord
Griddy now runs your race night: an entry card drivers tap to say they are in, reminder and check-in DMs, results posted when you upload them, and a steward's ruling posted and DM'd to the driver. Your rulebook can be the PDF you already have. Pick your channels on the Discord Bot tab first - until you do, Griddy has nowhere to post.

Start here. Griddy cannot post anything until you tell it where. Open your league settings, go to the Discord Bot tab, and choose an announce channel and a results channel. Nothing below goes out until you have.

Race night. On the Race Night tab, turn on entries and Griddy posts an entry card for each round - drivers tap it to say they are in. Reminder DMs go out before the race, check-in on the night, and afterwards each driver gets a recap DM telling them how their race went. A driver who has to miss a round can claim a provisional and still score for it, up to a limit you set.

Rulings. On the Stewarding tab, turn on incident reports and drivers can file them from the race page. When a steward rules, Griddy posts the decision to your channel and DMs the driver. Licence points are added up from the rulings themselves, so there is nothing to keep on the side.

Results. Upload a race as usual and the finishing order posts to your results channel.

Also new, on the site rather than in Discord.

Rulebook, on the Rulebook tab. Already have your rules as a PDF? Upload it - you do not have to retype anything. It shows on your league page and on every race page, and there is now a Rules page for your league where drivers can read the whole thing at once. Publishing keeps the old version, so a race that has already been run keeps the rules it was run under.

Recruitment, on the Recruitment tab. Share a join link or a printed QR code. Requests arrive in a queue with a note from the driver, and each link tells you how many people it brought - so you can see which of your posts actually worked.

Cups, on the Cups tab. A knockout decided by races you were already going to run. Point each round at one of your events and whoever finishes ahead goes through.

Points. Edit championship points, on your standings. Type the total a driver should have and it sticks, through every recalculation - for anything your scoring rules cannot express on their own.

GridCast Broadcaster 0.3.5 — the commentary team can see the production feed
The production feed's stream id was derived separately on every machine, so commentators could sit in the producer's room watching a stream nobody was publishing. Guest invites now carry the feed name, and commentators can pop the program picture out onto a second screen.

If your commentators have been staring at a black box where the program picture should be, this release is for you. The production feed's stream id was worked out separately on every machine, derived from the channel that machine's own account resolved — and that is not the same channel for everyone working the show. A commentator could be sitting in the producer's VDO room, plainly connected, while watching a stream id nobody was publishing. Nothing on screen explained it.

The guest invite now carries the feed name with it. The producer copies the guest invite and sends it; the commentator pastes it into their Room URL box and is on that exact feed, with no names to match up by hand. A plain room link works too, because everyone watching subscribes to the room's own feed name at the same time. What a producer publishes on has not changed, so a crew part-way through updating keeps the picture.

Commentators also get a Pop out button next to Watch feed, for the program picture on its own window on a second screen. It keeps VDO.Ninja's status and volume controls, so a feed that is not arriving says so rather than showing black. The feed being watched is named in the sidebar at both ends, so a mismatch is something you can read off the screen instead of guessing at, and the Feed name box can be cleared with a click.

Pop-out windows are now one per feed. Opening a driver's camera used to re-focus whichever window was already showing the program feed, and a pop-out sitting unfocused on a second monitor is no longer throttled by the browser engine.

GridCast Broadcaster 0.2.2 — 1080p display support
1080p is now a supported resolution, and your button board comes from your own overlay instead of a grid shipped inside the app.

1080p display support

The control panel was authored on a 1440p screen and never properly fitted a 1080p one. This release makes 1080p a supported resolution rather than a compromise. • The window opens to your display's usable area, so restoring it from maximised no longer parks the bottom of the app under the taskbar. • Replay controls fit without scrolling — transport, slow-motion, GO LIVE and the camera delay are reachable at once. • The button board and camera grid scale to the window, so no controls sit off the right edge. • Button labels stay legible as the grid scales down. Long names on half-height switches shorten, with the full name on hover.

Your button board comes from your overlay

• The app no longer ships a stock button grid. It loads the board saved against your own overlay instead. • To build yours: open your overlay in the editor on gridcast.gg, switch to Control Panel mode, press Build full board, then Save. • The board arrives on the next launch, or press Load from GridCast in the panel to pull it in immediately. • A panel with no board now explains itself on screen and offers both routes.

First-run setup

• The Broadcaster opens once you have published your first overlay. Buttons control the widgets in an overlay, so there is nothing for them to drive before one exists. • Press Publish once and the panel opens within twenty seconds. No restart needed.

Bug fixes

• Replay controls were cut off below the bottom of the camera panel at 1080p. • The window opened at 1920x1080 on every display, regardless of the screen it was on. • Board labels could render as small as 6px once the grid scaled itself down. • Access unlocks automatically once payment completes — the in-app re-check never ran, so a completed purchase needed an app restart.

Also in this release

• The standalone Bottom Ticker browser source has been retired. Place your lower third in your overlay, where you can position it with the rest of your graphics. Links already in OBS keep working.

Upgrading

• Open the GridCast Launcher and hit Update on GridCast Broadcaster. • Beta testers can report anything that looks wrong in the Discord bug reports channel.
